March 2003 Moab rocks!! It was my first time there and I just loved it. The scenery was breathtaking and the trails sure lived up to their reputation. The first night we went on a short ride up Poison Spider Mesa trail. It was amazing how well tires stick to this stuff....unlike anything I have experienced before. We had about 10 trucks on Friday for our Poison Spider run. The Golden Crack was cool going over. Saturday was our big day for Pritchett Canyon. Last year the guys did about 2/3 of this trail and had to turn around. This time we were determined to finish no matter what it took. One of the best obstacles on this trail is called Rocker Knocker. Darrick and Brian both gave this one a try but were unsuccessful. Leif however surprised all of us when he climbed right out of it with his fully locked 98 Extra Cab. Meanwhile I went around this obstacle and tried to tackle the bypass which was almost worse! I accepted Leif's winch after a good 10 minutes of tire rubbing action.
We came to the next obstacle called The Rock Pile which was almost a 5 ft verticle wall. While the others were attempting it I decided to do
the bypass. I gave it a good try but ended up winching on one of the huge boulders.
Immediately after the Rock Pile was the top! Everyone made this last part with no problems. Darrick from the club broke his steering rack on this last obstacle which was a major bummer!! I'm sure ready to come back for our May trip. I hope I have a front locker and lower gears by then. We'll just have to see.
